Exodus 1-6:
Ex 1: Israel multiplies in Egypt. A new Pharaoh enslaves them for fear of their growth. He orders Hebrew baby boys killed, but the midwives quietly resist.
Ex 2: Moses is born, preserved in the Nile, and raised in Pharaoh’s household; He flees to Midian after killing an Egyptian, marries, and becomes a shepherd.
Ex 3: God appears to Moses in the burning bush, reveals His name (YHWH), and calls Moses to deliver Israel from Egypt.
Ex 4: God gives Moses signs to confirm his calling and appoints Aaron as spokesman; Moses returns toward Egypt despite hesitation.
Ex 5: Moses and Aaron ask Pharaoh to let Israel go, but Pharaoh increases the Israelites’ labor, causing despair among the people.
Ex 6: God promises deliverance, and affirms His plan despite Israel’s discouragement; genealogy of Moses and Aaron.
Exodus 7-13:
Ex 7: Moses and Aaron confront Pharaoh; Aaron’s rod becomes a serpent, and the first plague turns the Nile to blood.
Ex 8: Plagues of frogs, lice (or gnats), and flies afflict Egypt; Pharaoh repeatedly promises relief but hardens his heart each time.
Ex 9: Plagues strike livestock, bring boils, and send devastating hail; Pharaoh briefly relents but continues to resist.
Ex 10: Locusts consume the land, and darkness covers Egypt; Pharaoh wavers but ultimately refuses to fully release Israel.
Ex 11: God announces the final plague—the death of the firstborn—and prepares Israel for a decisive deliverance.
Ex 12: The Passover is instituted; the firstborn of Egypt die, and Israel is finally released, departing in haste.
Ex 13: God consecrates the firstborn, leads Israel by pillar of cloud and fire, and directs their journey out of Egypt.
Exodus 14-18:
Ex 14: Trapped at the Red Sea, Israel witnesses God part the waters; they cross safely while Pharaoh’s army is destroyed.
Ex 15: Moses and Israel sing a song of deliverance; afterward, God provides sweet water at Marah and begins teaching reliance on Him.
Ex 16: In the wilderness, God provides manna and quail, establishing patterns of daily dependence and Sabbath observance.
Ex 17: God brings water from the rock at Horeb; Israel defeats Amalek as Moses’ raised hands symbolize dependence on divine power.
Ex 18: Jethro visits Moses, rejoices in Israel’s deliverance, and advises him to delegate leadership through appointed judges.
